Welcome to the official website of Kyegu Monastery India
We are situated in a remote mountainous Tibetan settlement in a little village called Tilordhar (mostly calls it Kamrao as it's the bigger village 3 kilometres down the mountain).
The Monastery was established in 1965, together with the Tibetan settlement, by the Tibetan refugees who were devotees of the monastery as well as by the original Kyegu Monastery monks who fled Tibet in 1959.
The monastery was established in order to revive, preserve and disseminate the extraordinary Kyegu Monastic tradition of the noble Buddhadharma in the Sakya Tradition for all beings.
The traditional and current head of the monastery is His Eminence Aenpo Kyabgon Rinpoche, who is also the head of centres in Australia and has a worldwide following of students.
Western and Asian Dharma supporters, especially Australians and Singaporean Dharma students have special connection with the Monastery and have undertaken retreats, receive teachings from Rinpoche and teach English to the younger monks.
The connection of international Dharma students continue strongly with Kyegu Monastery.
